0 DJ Clark Kent x Nike Air Force 1 High – East vs. West Rivals Pack

Going the opposite direction of his last creation by opting for a bright colorway, Clark gave his high only the finest materials, including premium leather on four separate areas. The toe box and toe cap use a buttery smooth black, as well as the the swoosh. Clark even chose to wrap the midsole in leather. Blue crocodile skin wraps from inside to outside around the heel, matching the outsole perfectly. The “.44 Rubber” you see on the back portion of the uppers is a reference to the rubber used on the outsole, which was originally designed for use on Nike’s ACG line. Touches of orange are used on the strap, and the high quality nubuck mid-panel is orange, also.

1 Watch the Jay-Z Benefit Concert from Madison Square Garden

0 Jay-Z “ROC”s Madison Square Garden.

Sold out shows his whole career…

In commemoration of those firefighters, police and victims who lost their lives on September 11 due to the terrorist attacks, Jay-Z put on an “Answer the Call” concert in front of a sold out NYC crowd at Madison Square Garden. With a cast of superstars that made an appearance on stage with Hov, this benefit concert was probably one of the best put together shows ever performed by the 39 year old legend. Jay performed 30 songs from his previous 11 albums over the two-hour set that could’ve been seen live on Fuse TV.

It couldn’t get much more professional that how Shawn Carter did it though. He kicked off his show with the Pledge of Allegiance and right after was a stellar performance by the guitarist who performed a Jimi Hendrix like Star Spangled Banner. Then Hov showed his NYC crowd love by performing a handful of New York anthems. These included Empire State of Mind, Where I’m From and Brooklyn We Go Hard.

There’s no doubting that New York is Jay-Z’s town and that he has love for it like it does for him. The whole arena didn’t sit down once during the whole show and they chanted “HOVA, HOVA” ...
in between every song. His tributes to those fallen victims of September 11th were highly emotional and respectful. Jay-Z held a moment of silence three-quarters into the show, but the most emotional moment of the night came later when a montage of the faces of the men and women who died on 9/11 was shown.

The music itself was just another amazing aspect of the show that DIDN’T go unnoticed. All of the musicians played each song to perfection…and when Jay-Z performed Dirt Off Your Shoulders, artist John Mayer accompanied him on the electric guitar and rocked the stage. And that wasn’t the only collaboration that made Jay-Z’s performance a great one. When he dug into the box of classics, he pulled out one of his first hits, Can’t Knock the Hustle and brought out Mary. J Blige to perform it with him. When Pharrell came out, you already knew what it was…I Just Wanna Love You and Excuse Me Miss were among the songs that the friends did together onstage. Off his new Blueprint 3 album, he performed Empire State of Mind with Alicia Keys and Already Home with Kid Cudi.

And those weren’t even half of the stars that made an appearance onstage with Jay. Kanye, Rihanna, Memphis Bleek, Beyonce, Diddy, Santigold and Swizz Beats were all seen with Jay-Z during his show.

But it's the context of the show that gave all of his songs a deeper meaning. "We're here to celebrate life, to celebrate strength," Jay-Z said at one point. And with music this hard, he captured the city's character..
SETLIST: Pledge of Allegiance/Star Spangled Banner / Empire State of Mind / Where I'm From / Brooklyn Go Hard (w/Santigold) / Heart of the City (Ain't No Love) / Already Home (w/Kid Cudi) / Diamonds/Jigga My — / Izzo (H.O.V.A.) / Jigga What, Jigga Who / U Don’t Know (w/John Mayer) / D.O.A.(w/John Mayer) / Run This Town (w/Rihanna and Kanye West) / Kanye West - Can’t Tell Me Nothin’/Good Life / 99 Problems / Venus vs. Mars / Beyonce - Diva / Show Me What You Got / Give It to Me (w/Pharrell) / On to the Next One (w/Swizz Beatz) / I Know/Allure (w/Pharrell) / Dirt Off Your Shoulder / Can't Knock the Hustle (w/Mary J. Blige) / Mary J. Blige - The One / Money Ain’t a Thing/Excuse Me Miss/Feelin’ It/Can I Get A../ Big Pimpin’ / Hard Knock Life / Young Forever / Encore (w/Diddy)

0 Congrats To Michael Jordan On His Hall of Fame Induction

Even though Mike walked away from the game a few years ago, his legend lives on everyday, not just in the world of sports and the hearts of his fans, but as you well know, in the unquantifiable love for the sneakers that are as linked to his legacy as his basketball career. The marriage between Michael Jordan and Nike is one of the most magical unions in the history of popular culture. At the time of their initial partnership, neither was the undisputed best in their field yet, but it was undeniable that both sides were overflowing with potential, and it didn’t take long at all before we saw exactly how much.

It all started with the infamous Air Jordan 1’s that were “banned” for violating the league’s footwear color policies. The NBA fined Michael $5000 each time he wore them and Nike happily picked up the tab, knowing that they couldn’t ask for better publicity for the shoe. With each new NBA season came a new Air Jordan model, and every time, both Michael and Nike raised the bar for their respective competition. Before long, it was a runaway and the rapid evolution of both MJ and Nike were mirroring each other, as the mutually beneficial relationship became something more than just a sneaker brand and its athlete endorser.

By 1997, the Nike Air Jordan line had become so wildly popular that, in an unprecedented move, Nike decided to create Jordan Brand, an autonomous leg of the company that would just focus on all things Jordan. With that came team and non-signature Jordan sneakers, as well as a slew of apparel and accessories. With twelve years and a ton of Jordan Brand products since, it’s easy to take for granted how remarkable it is that an athlete became so iconic and beloved in his own lifetime, that something like this actually came to be. In fact, it would be hard to argue that any other athlete/celebrity in history has had that kind of star power and marketability.

The question, “Is it the shoes?” was raised by Spike Lee’s Mars Blackmon character back in the classic ad campaign, wondering if Air Jordan sneakers were the reason for Michael’s next-level abilities. 20 years later, the question comes up again, but this time in a different context. As sneakerheads, we have to honestly ask ourselves: ‘Did we love the shoes so much because of Michael or did we love Michael so much because of the shoes?’ For many of us, that question will be pretty hard to answer, because the two have become too inter-mingled to differentiate. Michael’s game spoke for itself, but we have to ask ourselves if we would still be so infatuated with him if he had signed with another company and wore insignificant kicks throughout his career. John Stockton, the NBA’s career assists and steals leader will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight, but does anyone remember what shoes he wore? As insignificant a thing as that may sound like to some, the notion carries some weight.

There’s no doubt that no matter what sneakers he wore, Michael Jordan would have been the greatest basketball player of all time, but the Air Jordan sneaker line unquestionably ensured that his legacy will live on in a way that no other athlete has ever experienced. Being that this is a sneaker website, we’ll leave the retrospectives of Mike’s on-court career and accomplishments to the sports media, but we felt our own obligation to honor his Airness in a way that readers of our site would appreciate. Keep reading after the jump to see a goosebump-inducing highlight reel of the man of the hour doing what he did, day in, day out, over the course of a long and immortal career. Congratulations Michael! Thanks for the memories.

0 Throwbacks of the Week--September.11.2009

Welcome to the 5th installment of our Throwbacks of the Week segment. This is where we reminisce on the old styles, music and other memories from the past. This week includes the man who introduced us to ‘cooked crack’, a movie for both kids and adults, Redman at his finest and the boot of the century. Enjoy…

Although this shouldn't really be considered as an album, mixtapes are not disqualified from this category...especially this one!

Who remembers those beginning stages of Dipset when Juelz Santana was the hottest thing to hit the track? Well I do and I'm pretty sure you remember the 'Back Like Cooked Crack' series that he put out which made him recognized throughout the game. These 21 tracks of crack introduced us to what that Harlem drug flow is all about. This was one of those tapes that significantly put Dipset on the map because of the young Harlem talent. We need you back Juelz, it’s time to come back with some more of that cooked crack!

We don't die, we multiply!

Man when AC reminded me of this movie, I had to post it up. Bebe's Kids had to be of the best movies to grow up with (if you're part of my generation). The story about Robin Harris going on a first date with Jamika along with her son and her girlfriend's 3 bad ass kids to Funworld will always remain in our heads. This movie even changed out culture...now when we see or deal with a bunch of bad ass children, we usually refer to them as Bebe's kids. I mean, we even learned a few life lessons in this film…about love, confidence and even learning to adjust. This movie basically depicted the life of a black 35 year old, divorced male. Classic.

One of the funniest rappers alive has taken the spotlight this week as the throwback video. 'I’ll Be Dat' is one of my favorite songs from Redman and the video is even funnier. The best part is watching homegirl ride her bike into her parked car.

The Timberland Boot.
Who didn't rock a pair of these at some point in their life? The logo with the tree will always be a recognizable symbol in hip hop fashion. The great the about the timbos is that you didn't have to have a specific color because all you needed was the wheat ones and you were cooler than the other guy. I mean don't get me wrong, if you had any of the other colors, you were then man where I lived, but you could just be simple with the lone wheat pair that seemed to match anything you put on in the wintertime. But don't be caught with a boot that looks like some tims but don't have that logo on it...you will be getting clowned on. It's still hard to consider this a throwback trend because to this day, I would still throw on some tims if they were crispy. Anybody who is looking to throw in some suggestions for next week’s Throwbacks of the Week segment, email us at ifnotfreshthenwhat@yahoo.com or you can get at any of the founders on Facebook

Thanks for tuning in

Til next time,

0 New Movie: Takers Trailer

I ran across this trailer on Broken Android.

With a cast that includes T.I., Chris Brown, Matt Dillon and Michael Ealy, this new movie looks like it can be a hit. It is about a group of bank robbers who specialize in spectacular robberies, and they are pulled into one last job by a recently paroled cohort, only to be pitted against a hard-boiled detective who interrupts their $20 million heist.

Looks like it could be a nice lil flick. Be on the lookout for it in 2010.

0 Don't let me be Misunderstood?

Say what you want about New Orleans rapper Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. aka Lil Wayne. Say that "he's crazy for smoking to much", "he has too many tattoos", "he's weird for having a lip, and eyebrow ring", or even that "whatever is in his styrofoam cup is going to kill him". But through all this negativity you must say "he is one of the best rappers living...hands down"!

Over the past 18 years we've seen the rise, and fall of Lil Wayne at only the age of 27 years old. And through this the once member of Cash Moneys "Hot Boyz"has defied all the odds, and hatred against him to be at the top of the game with such heavy hitters as Kanye West, T.I., and of course Jay-Z. The things that Lil Wayne was once persecuted for is becoming a everyday thing in society.(Ex: All his tattoos)

The way I figure it we all have ONE life to live and the way we live it should be up to no one but yourself, because at the end of the day we only have to answer to one other person besides yourself...God. Personally Lil Wayne is and will always be my favorite rapper. Yes I am a huge...HUGE fan of Jay-Z but its just my personal opinion you can't say anything. So for all the people out there who thinks Waynes nothing but a horrible person think about this. Everyone goes through their own thing, you might hear about it but you're not living through it. So here are some scenes on the rapper Lil Wayne that weren't shown on the VH1 special "Behind the Music" that permiered last night. So maybe youll say "okay he has a lot of tattos because he has a vision, he's not crazy, he's just doing him."

0 NB Madness!

Who is a fan of New Balances??

(crickets)

Lets not get silly, but New Balances have the capabilites of making one F.A.D.E.D. Most people diss 'em but NB doesn't get enough credit for the attractive styles that they create. Below are three new pairs of unreleased New Balances that could possibly catch the eye of a New Balance hater.

The SNKRFRKR x New Balance 850 ‘Skippy’ captures all of that Melbourne culture. We see the green and yellow that frequent the Australian national team’s jerseys, balanced out with black, white and gold

An eighteen year old shoe graces the cover of SneakerFreaker’s 16th release. To be completely accurate, it’s only on one of four collectors covers, but the SNKRFRKR x New Balance 850 ‘Skippy’ captures all of that Melbourne flavour. We see the green and yellow that frequent the Australian national team’s jerseys, balanced out with black, white and gold. No word yet on a release date with these, so we’ll keep you posted.

Leftfoot looked to the infamous early 90s tees depicting lightning, wolves and other nature for design cues on this pack. The premium materials show we’re not serious about this tacky inspiration, but the New Balance CM999 Feral Creature Pack uses that wild vibe for its promotional materials. Leftfoot and mita sneakers’ designs said to resemble a lion and a mouse respectively both use faux fur, horsehair and some animal teeth embroidered into the heel. The tongues are numbered for this limited edition and if you look down you’ll notice bamboo insoles. The 660 pairs released today at select New Balance retailers including Huf, UNDFTD and ALIFE here in the ‘States. via Kix-Files

1 Jay-Z Expected To Sell 300-350k In First Week

Jay-Z's new "Blueprint 3" album looks like it will not only debut number 1, but the album is projecting to sell around 300-350,000 copies in its debut first week. The first release on Jigga's new Roc Nation label will beat out Reakwon's "Only Built For Cuban Linx Part 2" album which is projected to push around 55-60,000 units according to HitsDailyDouble. Based on one-day sales figures, the numbers do show the market going up 8 percent from last week, although it's still down 7% compared to the same week last year. In related news, Jay-Z was recently in Chicago to promote his new album and decided to drop a freestyle before performing "Mars vs Venus" and "Hate," two tracks from "The Blueprint 3" album.

If you want our take...these statistics are probably looking at the worst scenario, based upon Hov's success from previous releases and the fact that this is one of the biggest albums to drop in the history of music. If you look at what Weezy did in his first week (selling 1 million in 1 week), there's no reason why Jay-Z shouldn't reach about this level or possibly even higher. His career is higher that that (Lil' Wayne's) and if Hov doesn't surpass that, there are definitely several factors that would cause this scenario.
1. People still aren't appreciating real rap
2. T-Pain fans are boycotting him
3. The CD was leaked online well before the release date

Actually, the third reason is probably the most legitimate excuse, although Hov doesn't need any. Almost anybody can grab the album online right now...I'm not gonna lie, I had to be one of those people. The Legend stated that he doesn't mind the cd leak, but it is a factor that can effect these statistics.

Regardless, I encourage EVERYONE to purchase a copy...because of the fact that it's Jay-Z, duh.

0 Air Jordan Sixty Plus – 60+ Point Series – Detroit Pistons – December 2009

As the Jordan Brand continues to commemorate Michael Jordan's 60 point performances, the latest memory is honoring MJ's 61 point game against the Detroit Pistons on March 4th, 1987. These consist of a cement color effect on the blue and grey portion of these ones. There is also a red portion in the front part of the shoe with the same effect...probably one of the nicer releases from the 60+ point collection.

Look to get these on December 5, 2009. We will be reminding y'all when they come out..

0 F.A.D.E.D. Spotlight: Riddim Driven Clothing

If you’ve been following F.A.D.E.D. since we’ve started (like y’all should’ve been), then you are familiar with our views on upcoming clothing lines and their original intent. I mean, it’s easy to design clothes and sell for a quick little profit, but not many people are ethic with it. What I mean is that the true and successful clothing lines come with a standard and a belief behind their creations.
That is basically is what F.A.D.E.D. is about, when it comes to lifestyle. We don’t require the frame of mind that says you gotta have this and that to be labeled as ‘fresh’, or F.A.D.E.D. Y’all knew that though…
This week we decided to spotlight the Riddim Driven clothing line based off of the island and reggae culture.
What makes this line appealing is the fact that their clothes reflect their Ska lifestyle without being biased towards the primary colors of their culture (green, red, gold) and they create a comfortable feel with the basic, yet inspiring styles.
Like any other line, they’re wardrobe consists of jeans, hoodies, tees, long sleeves, and even hats. For the upcoming fall season, RD promised to focus on two genres of clothing that reflected the heritage of the island. One is the progressive street-wear look that reflects the Ska sounds and culture. The other is a style that showcases the culture of the rebellious youth. For this specific look, they are found more in the jackets and long sleeved looks.
Take a peep at their closet, and let us know what you like about it.

For more information on the Riddim Driven clothing line, you can check out their website @ http://www.riddimdrivenclothing.com/.

Til then, Stay F.A.D.E.D.
