0 Throwbacks of the Week--September.11.2009

Welcome to the 5th installment of our Throwbacks of the Week segment. This is where we reminisce on the old styles, music and other memories from the past. This week includes the man who introduced us to ‘cooked crack’, a movie for both kids and adults, Redman at his finest and the boot of the century. Enjoy…

Although this shouldn't really be considered as an album, mixtapes are not disqualified from this category...especially this one!

Who remembers those beginning stages of Dipset when Juelz Santana was the hottest thing to hit the track? Well I do and I'm pretty sure you remember the 'Back Like Cooked Crack' series that he put out which made him recognized throughout the game. These 21 tracks of crack introduced us to what that Harlem drug flow is all about. This was one of those tapes that significantly put Dipset on the map because of the young Harlem talent. We need you back Juelz, it’s time to come back with some more of that cooked crack!

We don't die, we multiply!

Man when AC reminded me of this movie, I had to post it up. Bebe's Kids had to be of the best movies to grow up with (if you're part of my generation). The story about Robin Harris going on a first date with Jamika along with her son and her girlfriend's 3 bad ass kids to Funworld will always remain in our heads. This movie even changed out culture...now when we see or deal with a bunch of bad ass children, we usually refer to them as Bebe's kids. I mean, we even learned a few life lessons in this film…about love, confidence and even learning to adjust. This movie basically depicted the life of a black 35 year old, divorced male. Classic.

One of the funniest rappers alive has taken the spotlight this week as the throwback video. 'I’ll Be Dat' is one of my favorite songs from Redman and the video is even funnier. The best part is watching homegirl ride her bike into her parked car.

The Timberland Boot.
Who didn't rock a pair of these at some point in their life? The logo with the tree will always be a recognizable symbol in hip hop fashion. The great the about the timbos is that you didn't have to have a specific color because all you needed was the wheat ones and you were cooler than the other guy. I mean don't get me wrong, if you had any of the other colors, you were then man where I lived, but you could just be simple with the lone wheat pair that seemed to match anything you put on in the wintertime. But don't be caught with a boot that looks like some tims but don't have that logo on it...you will be getting clowned on. It's still hard to consider this a throwback trend because to this day, I would still throw on some tims if they were crispy. Anybody who is looking to throw in some suggestions for next week’s Throwbacks of the Week segment, email us at ifnotfreshthenwhat@yahoo.com or you can get at any of the founders on Facebook

Thanks for tuning in
