0 Jay-Z Responds to Sigel...

First and foremost...Happy Halloween to all
No later than a day after Beanie Sigel reveals his diss track towards Jay-Z, Hov responds to the shots during a press conference in Canada.  LaRueduHipHop.com captured a press conference that happened earlier today in which Hov speaks on the Beanie Sigel situation. This can get real ugly.

If you listen, the things that Jay is mentioning is true...so the call-out by Beans is questionable.  But we don't know what happens behind the scense, so as this unfolds, we'll keep you updated....

2 More Shots Fired Jay-Z's Way

Hmmm....y'all I dont really gotta lot to say about this one.  If you put the two rappers on a scale, Hov is definitely bigger than Beanie Sigel..regardless of the realistic weight differential.
Earlier this morning, Beans went on Hot 97 NY to premeire his diss to the one-time partner, labelmate and friend.  The reasoning for Sigel's record is from the night of the September 11 Tribute Concert in which Jay-Z performed in front of a sold out Madison Square Garden.  He accuses Jay-Z of calling the police on him during the premier concert of Blueprint 3 when he was spotted in the front row.  He also accuses Jay-Z of keeping him tied to the label when Sigel had an opportunity to go elsewhere.

According to Sigel, Jay offered him a financial incentive to remain on the struggling label’s roster. “I told you I ain’t want your money,” he said addressing Jay-Z directly.

“But you was in a position to let me get my own money, and you couldn’t do that,” Sigel claimed.

Whatever issues remain between the two artists, who have always appeared to be very close, Sigel has made it clear that they can be resolved.

The diss record was released hours after Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed at Yankee Stadium.  So who knows...it could possibly be a World Series beef.  Seeing as how Beans is from Philly and Hov is the man of NY, the Yankees and Phillies being in the World Series could've been the last straw for Sigel.

Those with a sense of humor understood the previous paragraph.

Neither Jay-Z of any of his representatives has yet to respond. Although Jay is known for giving artists the cold shoulder after a diss is thrown at him, this goes deeper than the other shots.  These are two guys who had a very strong friendship and they intended on doing bigger things in the future.  Unfortunately, things change.  This will probably be addressed, but not in a public light.

Of the lyrics, he said, “This ain’t a green light for everybody to start making 'diss Jay-Z' records. This is just me taking my brother out for five minutes.” Their feud is reported to have originated from their Roc-A-Fella business dealings, and Jay-Z's allegedly adequate marketing of Sigel’s album in 2007.

What y'all think about this?  Comment please...

2 Jay-Z on the Oprah Winfrey Show...in case you missed it!

In case you missed it, you can catch the whole Jay-Z interview with Oprah yesterday…here on F.A.D.E.D. As we know, Oprah doesn’t really associate herself with rappers, but it’s good to see her expand her parameters and do this interview. A nice sign of respect, for both of the African American icons. Check it out.

0 Jay-Z Delivers Another #1

Once again, we can say congratulations to Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter. Hov has once again hit #1 on the Billboard 200 with his new album, the Blueprint 3. Even with the album leaking a week prior to the release, Jay-Z still managed to make it to the top (like always) leaving just him and the Beatles with the most number one albums on the Billboard 200 in its 53 year history. With the Blueprint 3 hitting #1, he surpassed Elvis in the most number one albums. With the Beatles sitting up at 19, it’s almost impossible for Jay-Z to reach that, but who knows…this guy does big things.

Here’s a list of Jay-Z’s number one albums…

1998, "Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life" (five weeks)

2000, "Vol. 3...Live and Times of S. Carter"

2000, "The Dynasty Roc La Familia (2000--)"

2001, "The Blueprint" (three weeks)

2002, "The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse"

2003, "The Black Album" (two weeks)

2004, "Unfinished Business," R. Kelly & Jay-Z

2004, "MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents: Collision Course," Jay-Z/Linkin Park

2006, "Kingdom Come"

2007, "American Gangster"

2009, "The Blueprint 3"

1 Watch the Jay-Z Benefit Concert from Madison Square Garden

0 Jay-Z “ROC”s Madison Square Garden.

Sold out shows his whole career…

In commemoration of those firefighters, police and victims who lost their lives on September 11 due to the terrorist attacks, Jay-Z put on an “Answer the Call” concert in front of a sold out NYC crowd at Madison Square Garden. With a cast of superstars that made an appearance on stage with Hov, this benefit concert was probably one of the best put together shows ever performed by the 39 year old legend. Jay performed 30 songs from his previous 11 albums over the two-hour set that could’ve been seen live on Fuse TV.

It couldn’t get much more professional that how Shawn Carter did it though. He kicked off his show with the Pledge of Allegiance and right after was a stellar performance by the guitarist who performed a Jimi Hendrix like Star Spangled Banner. Then Hov showed his NYC crowd love by performing a handful of New York anthems. These included Empire State of Mind, Where I’m From and Brooklyn We Go Hard.

There’s no doubting that New York is Jay-Z’s town and that he has love for it like it does for him. The whole arena didn’t sit down once during the whole show and they chanted “HOVA, HOVA” ...
in between every song. His tributes to those fallen victims of September 11th were highly emotional and respectful. Jay-Z held a moment of silence three-quarters into the show, but the most emotional moment of the night came later when a montage of the faces of the men and women who died on 9/11 was shown.

The music itself was just another amazing aspect of the show that DIDN’T go unnoticed. All of the musicians played each song to perfection…and when Jay-Z performed Dirt Off Your Shoulders, artist John Mayer accompanied him on the electric guitar and rocked the stage. And that wasn’t the only collaboration that made Jay-Z’s performance a great one. When he dug into the box of classics, he pulled out one of his first hits, Can’t Knock the Hustle and brought out Mary. J Blige to perform it with him. When Pharrell came out, you already knew what it was…I Just Wanna Love You and Excuse Me Miss were among the songs that the friends did together onstage. Off his new Blueprint 3 album, he performed Empire State of Mind with Alicia Keys and Already Home with Kid Cudi.

And those weren’t even half of the stars that made an appearance onstage with Jay. Kanye, Rihanna, Memphis Bleek, Beyonce, Diddy, Santigold and Swizz Beats were all seen with Jay-Z during his show.

But it's the context of the show that gave all of his songs a deeper meaning. "We're here to celebrate life, to celebrate strength," Jay-Z said at one point. And with music this hard, he captured the city's character..
SETLIST: Pledge of Allegiance/Star Spangled Banner / Empire State of Mind / Where I'm From / Brooklyn Go Hard (w/Santigold) / Heart of the City (Ain't No Love) / Already Home (w/Kid Cudi) / Diamonds/Jigga My — / Izzo (H.O.V.A.) / Jigga What, Jigga Who / U Don’t Know (w/John Mayer) / D.O.A.(w/John Mayer) / Run This Town (w/Rihanna and Kanye West) / Kanye West - Can’t Tell Me Nothin’/Good Life / 99 Problems / Venus vs. Mars / Beyonce - Diva / Show Me What You Got / Give It to Me (w/Pharrell) / On to the Next One (w/Swizz Beatz) / I Know/Allure (w/Pharrell) / Dirt Off Your Shoulder / Can't Knock the Hustle (w/Mary J. Blige) / Mary J. Blige - The One / Money Ain’t a Thing/Excuse Me Miss/Feelin’ It/Can I Get A../ Big Pimpin’ / Hard Knock Life / Young Forever / Encore (w/Diddy)
Congrats HOV,

1 Jay-Z Expected To Sell 300-350k In First Week

Jay-Z's new "Blueprint 3" album looks like it will not only debut number 1, but the album is projecting to sell around 300-350,000 copies in its debut first week. The first release on Jigga's new Roc Nation label will beat out Reakwon's "Only Built For Cuban Linx Part 2" album which is projected to push around 55-60,000 units according to HitsDailyDouble. Based on one-day sales figures, the numbers do show the market going up 8 percent from last week, although it's still down 7% compared to the same week last year. In related news, Jay-Z was recently in Chicago to promote his new album and decided to drop a freestyle before performing "Mars vs Venus" and "Hate," two tracks from "The Blueprint 3" album.

If you want our take...these statistics are probably looking at the worst scenario, based upon Hov's success from previous releases and the fact that this is one of the biggest albums to drop in the history of music. If you look at what Weezy did in his first week (selling 1 million in 1 week), there's no reason why Jay-Z shouldn't reach about this level or possibly even higher. His career is higher that that (Lil' Wayne's) and if Hov doesn't surpass that, there are definitely several factors that would cause this scenario.
1. People still aren't appreciating real rap
2. T-Pain fans are boycotting him
3. The CD was leaked online well before the release date

Actually, the third reason is probably the most legitimate excuse, although Hov doesn't need any. Almost anybody can grab the album online right now...I'm not gonna lie, I had to be one of those people. The Legend stated that he doesn't mind the cd leak, but it is a factor that can effect these statistics.

Regardless, I encourage EVERYONE to purchase a copy...because of the fact that it's Jay-Z, duh.
